Monthly theme: a pat on the back
Every month we have a FIB theme - which gets sent to our FIB family business members. The idea of these is to stimulate thoughts, conversations, awareness and actions - all to benefit individuals, families and businesses.
The theme for November is A PAT ON THE BACK...
Never underestimate a pat on the back - whether you do this for yourself or to others. Being able to find what worked well and build on it can make all the difference. At FIB we're not fans of the traditional SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). By all means recognise your weaknesses, that can be very important, but as a person you're far better to focus on your strengths and do more of what you're strongest and happiest at doing.
How many times have you been, or sent someone else, on a course to improve a weakness? It's damage limitation! Surely a marathon runner is better training for distance and stamina that deciding to train for a sprint start out of the blocks? A great team has all types of skills and strengths and winning teams play to them. Do more of what you do well and pat yourself and others on the back.
